Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Honey Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup Mountainside Apiary Wisconsin Clover Honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

Garnish

  • Sliced green onions
  • Toasted sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro, optional

Directions

  1. Pat the chicken dry and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper, then toss with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch until evenly coated.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and fresh ginger.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Pour the honey teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken and bring to a gentle simmer.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon cornstarch and 2 tablespoons cold water until smooth.
  6. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet while stirring. Continue cooking for 2–3 minutes, until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze that coats the chicken.
  7. Reduce the heat to low and gently toss the chicken in the sauce until every piece is evenly coated.
  8. Transfer the honey teriyaki chicken to a serving dish and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Serving Suggestions

This Honey Teriyaki Chicken is delicious served over steamed white rice, jasmine rice, brown rice, or fried rice. Pair it with steamed broccoli, snap peas, roasted vegetables, or an Asian-inspired cucumber salad for a complete meal.

Beekeeper’s Tip

Honey adds more than sweetness to this teriyaki glaze—it helps create a beautiful caramelized finish and gives the sauce its rich, glossy texture. Add the honey with the other sauce ingredients and avoid cooking the glaze over excessively high heat to prevent it from becoming too dark.
